María Fernanda Pallares
Montevideo, 1970
I graduated from the National School of Fine Arts and the Faculty of
Communication Sciences (both from the University of the Republic). From
2001 to 2007 I lived in Brazil where I completed a master’s degree and a
doctorate in Philosophy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro,
returning to Montevideo to work as a teacher at the Institute of Philosophy of
the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences.
I attended art workshops in Uruguay and abroad. In 2018 I began making
printmaking matrices with photopolymers with Graciela Buratti in Buenos
Aires, becoming interested shortly after in photogravure work with copper
plates. In 2020 I took a heliogravure workshop (Talbot-Klíč technique) with
Carles Mitjà in Estada.
My current artistic practice focuses on printmaking and photography,
although not exclusively.
